I’ve started a new game and I want to share the details with you! This post will be about the main visual ideas I had in mind when I came up with the concept.
I wanted to place the game to a strange surface. There are several ways to handle or display strange shapes. A spherical surface is easy to handle geometrically. Also using strange effects on the rendered image can bend the straight lines making an interesting visual experience. For example the game birdsong uses similar technique.
My idea was the eye, that has a sphere-like surface. I wanted a correct representation of the object so the game is not completely spherical. Also I wanted to make the whole surface of the eye visible so I decided to use the inside of the manifold.
I’ve used an unlit texture based shader to make it look interesting. The shape is quite simple so I think it’s easy to see what’s going on without lighting.
I’m satisfied with the result. I hope you will like it too.
